The First Day of School

I always have a little trouble sleeping the night before the first day of school and this year was no exception. New beginnings are wonderful, but always a little challenging. I wasn't disappointed this year, I have a class of wonderful children all eager to learn new things. We didn't get everything accomplished that I planned for today, but we read several stories, sang some songs, got acquainted with each other and most importantly got to lunch on time! During the summer I directed most of my posts to teachers, but now that focus will change. I want this blog to be a place where parents and anyone interested in the education of young children will fill free to respond. If you have a concern, a question or comment feel free to leave your comment here or email me.

I swore last year that I wasn't EVER starting the year for anyone again. The first day of pre-planning and the first day of school, where was I? In Bonnie Love's kindergarten class at Gentian! She had had emergency surgery the week before. Thought about you and your classroom several times in the last 3 weeks. Tomorrow Bonnie takes over from me and the class becomes her own, for real. I'm glad to turn it over to her. The gladness comes as much from wanting to be able to choose to go or not based on my parents need of me that day as much as from being ready to be done with the planning for a class that is not my own.
Hope this will be a good year for you! Please call me when you need to be gone, I always LOVE being in your class.
