A Touch of Technology

As the 2008-2009 year begins, all schools in our district have computers with internet access and many schools have smart boards, digital cameras, camcorders and other technology. The question arises, how do we use the new technology we've been given to enhance learning in the classroom? What do educators need in order to use and to help students use technology effectively?
This class will endeavor to help you answer these questions. Your mission is to explore new ways to use technology in your classroom, design a powerpoint or use a multimedia program of your choice to share with the class on Day 4, and design a project for your students to use technology to showcase their learning.
There are endless possibilities for technology integration in the early childhood classroom. What can you imagine?? Post comments before our next class.
With a touch of technology,
Linda

Hey Linda,
I think we need to make all our presentations colorful and bright. That will get the children’s attention and make them want to use the technology. I am looking forward to making a slideshow in your class.

I believe that technology will enhance our students work. My students love to get on the computers. We need to make the work interesting and fun and that will get their attention.

Linda,
Thanks so much for letting us sit in on your Tues. class to catch up. You presented us with little tidbits that will go a long way. I especially liked signing up for a g-mail acct., and the sites that will help us upload and use pictures. Your mini cam is a must for my Christmas list! Thanks again,
Eva

Hey Linda,
I think technology is a wonderful tool for engaging every learner be they gifted or delayed. Usually the kids are so focused on the activity that they don't even realize they're learning. The challenge for educators then is finding ways to integrate the technology.

Mrs. McCardle,
I would like to take pictures of the children planting seeds, to document the lif cycle of the plant. We can then make a PowerPoint using the pictures and add some of the comments from the children to the slides. We could even scan some of their journal writings and add that to the PowerPoint.
