The Dr. Seuss Touch

We didn't get to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday on Monday last week. We were home celebrating a rare snow event instead. It doesn't often snow this far south, but it's always a treat for the boys and girls in my classroom when it does. The children participated in many learning activities last week, from alphabetizing the characters from The Cat in the Hat to making oobleck and observing the properties of liquids and solids. The most rewarding incident happened on Friday afternoon when several of the students asked me to leave out all the Dr. Seuss books in a basket so they could continue to read them. That's the magic of Dr. Seuss, they are timeless classics, beloved by young and old. Thank you Dr. Seuss for creating books with unique characters written for young and old.

Mom, yes the snow was a rare treat for all the boys and girls... They were glad to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday a day late due to the snow. We had fun reading his books and writing about all the funny characters in his stories! Most of all I loved reading my children's stories about what they would do with the Cat in the Hat. To end up our Cat in the Hat week we made a yummy Cat in the Hat ice cream treat. They turned out really cute!
