Here are some ideas for one of my favorite books. There's color pictures for retelling the story (I'm going to put the pieces in my Retelling Center) and a response sheet. I take a half sheet of light blue construction paper, have the students color half brown, color, cut out vegetables and paste in correct place on sheet.
Next week we'll be finishing up our Farm Unit focusing on plants. I created an informational guided reading text for my students. After reading the text, students will use the text to complete the life cycle response sheet. I hope you'll enjoy using it.

My students have had a great time with the subtraction workstation this week. I had them work in pairs to put puzzles together and then had them choose four puzzles to illustrate on plain paper folded into fourths.

My kindergarteners love love this literacy word work station. I hope yours will, too. After placing this in my literacy centers I decided my kiddos needed a little more accountability. I made a response sheet and they can choose what ten words they want to make and record. So far they've chosen to make and record all the words!

I recently received an email from Hameray Publishing asking me to review a Mrs. Wishy Washy title from the JoyCowley. I have always loved Mrs. Wishy Washy and I am delighted with title I was asked to review. It has all the structures needed for a guided reading lesson and the back cover contains a detailed lesson plan for you to use. The most exciting part is that Hameray Publishing is having a great giveaway that you can nominate a classroom to receive. You can find more information about the contest at:
For those who have followed my blog for a while, you know I am writing a book based on my great great grandfather's letters written during the Civil War. I have been writing and researching this week (my spring break). I am hoping to have the book ready at the end of the summer. There are many sad stories about the men and their families, but also survival! This continues to be a fascinating journey. But, I meant to upload my farm literacy and math work stations earlier this week and time got away from me! Have a great rest of the week and watch for more workstations!
