I have collected gingerbread stories for years. We spend a couple of weeks reading and comparing the many versions of the gingerbread man (or boy, girl, baby, stinky cheese man, pancake, matzoh ball boy.....) We compare settings, characters and refrains. If you take a look at my website you'll find ideas for activities we've done in the past. Click on the link to take you to my gingerbread man site: The Gingerbread Man at Linda's Learning Links. During Reader's Workshop, we'll complete several graphic organizers. Just click on the pictures below to download a character and setting comparison.
I chose these two books to compare settings because the setting of The Gingerbread Man by Richard Egielsky is in a town and the setting of The Gingerbread Man by Jim Aylesworth is in the country.
The difference in the
characters of these two stories is obvious. The fox is in both stories.
Adorable blog! I look forward to following along!
