Pond Animal videos

The students in my class gather information through discovery bags, the pond site on my website and videos. I have a small dvd player that they watch the videos on. These different activities (while contrived to be sure)  help my students become independent information gatherers. They love gathering the information and writing about the animals.
Hope your students will enjoy the videos.

Pond Packet Freebie

Our class discovers information about pond animals through discovery bags. This packet contains an emergent level fact sheet and word bank about six different pond animals along with a fact sheet for students to collect their information. I include a stuffed animal or puppet in each bag, word bank and fact sheet along with nonfiction books I have collected (Check your library for books to put in your discovery bags if you don't have a large collection.) The students fill out their animal fact sheet. They  use the collected information to write about the animal of their choice. I also made a short video about each pond animal.  My website Linda's Learning Links has a pond webpage geared to emergent readers. To receive the packet, just follow my blog and leave a comment along with your email address. If you are a follower, please leave a comment and your email address and I'll get the packet to you. I will upload the videos later this week.

We started our pond unit today and I will be posting a packet of pond freebies later this week. But, I wanted to go ahead and share the guided reading book I created. Hope you will enjoy it!
Froggy Friends

Teachers Taking Care of Teachers

When I think of losing the thousands of books I've collected in my 27 years of teaching in just a few minutes, I  can't even imagine how I would feel. So, even though I don't have a teachers' store, I will send a Barnes and Noble's gift certificate. I know I would appreciate even a small gift certificate. You can purchase them online and then send it to the coordinator of this project or even to a teacher that you might know who is devastated by their losses. Click on the link below the heart for details.

Seuss Sodoku Freebies

I made 2 sodoku games for the Smartboard for Dr. Seuss week.

Graphics are by Michelle at The 3AM Teacher

A little more Seuss!

I like to make ppts of the guided reading books I use with my class. I am also including a smartboard version, it will be great for finding rhyming words, sight words and determining the number of syllables in words from the story. I also make response sheets for each guided reading book I use, I'm including the response sheet as well. I hope you will enjoy using them with your students.
P.S. The font used in all of the items is Dr. Soos Bold.
