I spray painted a cookie tin and purchased the little penguin kit from A.C. Moore and attached magnets. They will be a part of my Retelling Center during my Arctic Animal unit.

I am an Early Childhood Educator too. I recently read the book to the children and I extended their interest to play the scene with 5 toy penguins on ice we made on one of those wooden toy trays. The children had a lot of fun and at the same time doing sensory play. Some of my older 4 year old children helped write the numbers and we learned to read the subtraction sentence "5-1=4". That was a great experience!
